News and Announcements

Hi all,

The weekly schedule has been updated. Only day of lacrosse will be Thursday at Lochside Turf for both classes.

Coach Reisig also wanted to add that line-ups for the upcoming Spartan Shootout and Space Needle tournament will be posted later this week.

And an update on the seniors trip:

A Sunday morning loss 10-8 to a Florida team we should have beat. Bounced back with an 8-4 win over a mixed group from Canada, Ohio, and Maryland. Finished with an excellent game against an upstate New York team and tied 9-9. Not perfect but all in all a pretty good weekend. Two losses on each morning that we could have had go the other way. Other than that a pretty successful weekend leaving at 4-2-1.

Next stop New York City!!!

Have a great week!

Recap of the seniors trip to Baltimore and New York City.

Some pics can be found here – https://goo.gl/i75M5U

Day 1 notes:
Team is now 3-1 after Saturdays games. A good win vs the Edge from Toronto Friday night 8-4 under the lights in historical Johnny Unitas Stadium shook the rust off and opened our play for the weekend.

A sluggish start to the day Saturday vs Resolute from Ohio resulting in an 8-6 loss. Some good work by the Spartans in their first game Sat but sloppy play and poor shooting left us on the wrong side of a game we should have won.

Feature match of the day was on the outstanding soccer field vs Denver Elite. The guys played an outstanding ‘bounce back’ game and after a great start and an 8-0 halftime lead pushed thru the second half and finished with a 14-4 win. The entire team contributed to an excellent team win.

The last game of the day for the boys was vs 3D Mid Atlantic. The boys came out strong and after a few early goals never looked back. Finishing with a 15-1 victory the Spartans walked away from Towson University feeling pretty good about the day but also with a small fire burning knowing they could have/should have been unbeaten.

Day 2 notes:

A Sunday morning loss 10-8 to a Florida team we should have beat. Bounced back with an 8-4 win over a mixed group from Canada, Ohio, and Maryland. Finished with an excellent game against an upstate New York team and tied 9-9. Not perfect but all in all a pretty good weekend. Two losses on each morning that we could have had go the other way. Other than that a pretty successful weekend leaving at 4-2-1.

Next stop New York City!!!

A big thanks to the 12 Claremont Sr’s who volunteered their time this past Friday night at the Cordova Bay Hoot and Howl. The elementary school kids had a ton of fun and the high school boys enjoyed playing games and interacting with the young kids. Lot’s of positive feedback from the community towards the lacrosse program and the young men for sharing some of their time on Friday night.

Thanks again.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Reminder that weather pending, it is lacrosse at the school field for jr guys and turf for sr guys for Monday. Busing arranged for all to be at turf Tuesday.

Thursday the sr travel team heads east as do many jr athletes competing for Team BC to the Autumn Gold Showcase at Towson Univ. In that time Mr. Dunlop will be in charge and a brief break from lacrosse for those 4 school days will occur.

As soon as we all return the focus will turn to the Spartan Shootout and Space Needle tournament. The Spartan Shootout teams will be posted next week so all can plan – the sr team will be chosen in a closed door ’captain’s selection’ as we have done in the past few years and the jr teams will be split as evenly as possible by Chris and I. The Space Needle rosters will also be posted by the end of next week as we use the trip east as a process in the evaluation.

I have done a draft of the Spartan Shootout tournament for Nov 25/26 that I intend to send to teams for approval and then hope to post asap so all can plan. As always, this is a great weekend of local lacrosse for all and especially for our grade 12 guys as we ‘borrow’ from our U.S. friends their ‘senior night’ during our Friday Night Lights game. Parents will be included and we will do all we can to make the evening special for the gr 12’s and their families. The school, student gov’t, dancers, and staff are all part of the planning and many are talking of it already. Program sponsorship would be greatly appreciated – see site for details.

Lots has been going on behind the scenes already and we hope to be as organized as possible. This is our tournament and OUR responsibility to make sure all runs smoothly. Chris and I will be running around like crazy coaching the boys split over 4 teams. MUCH help will be needed over these two days to have this work for all so please when the volunteer schedule comes from Caroline soon please be sure to a be a part of this tournament as a parent and volunteer.

Hello all – hope everyone had a great 3 day weekend!!

The weekly schedule has been posted and the following are some notes from Coach Reisig:

An awesome effort and practice by the senior varsity team on Friday giving up some of their own time to practice at Lochside from 2-4:00pm as we prep for travel East in less than 2 weeks. Permission forms and details to come home early this week.

A reminder/note for all:
With the wet weather we now start having some of our practices at Lochside Turf. Beginning tomorrow we will be at Lochside for Mon, Tues, and Thur this week. For most of Nov. we will be at Lochside most Tues/Thur (I will try to remind all on Mondays but please have guys check schedule and website).

Would ask the Gr 9/10 guys be dropped off at the field for 8:50/55am. I have arranged a bus for students to be taken back to school for Jr. guys and back to Lochside for Sr guys

Thanks – Have a great week!!
