News and Announcements

Hope everyone had a great weekend and had a chance to get out in the sun.

Busy week as always but with year end quickly approaching there is much to do before we get to exams and graduation for our grade 12’s.

This week both classes will have the opportunity for a presentation led by an expert in the field of sports psychology and mental preparation. I’m very much looking forward to this for the guys and hope they appreciate and use the presentation to become better athletes and people.

Tues the jr class is at Lochside. The sr guys are TBA as some are with the CR 12 camping trip and others are teaching at Kelset for their final time (they have done a great job at all 3 elem schools and the posters given back show the little ones really liked their mentorship and teaching).

Wed – I am bring in Claremont alum Devin Cochrane who is a concussion specialist and therapist who works at Tall Tree in Matticks Farm. With all the knocks the guys are taking I think it’s appropriate timing.

Thur – both groups are at Lochside for lacrosse.

Fri – TBA.

Looking ahead to the following week, we have BC’s Best and further prep for Denver before we start to wind down a bit.

To put in your calendars – Claremont Athletic Awards afternoon will be June 20 from 4-6:00pm and all are welcome but please encourage your son to attend.

Welcome back – hope all had a great long weekend and it was great to see the warm weather make an appearance – hopefully everyone had a chance to get outside and enjoy.

Short week but busy week:

Tues – Lacrosse for both classes at the school
Wed – our grade 12’s are to be at the school for 8:50 to get on the school buses to make sure all are at UVic on time for the Grad Rehearsal. For jr classes and the gr 11’s will be PE at school.
Thur – lacrosse at the turf (will make sure transportation is arranged – not sure what happened last week??).
Fri – sr teachers at Keating for last time, all others TBA but likely PE activities.

BC’s Best and Denver are fast approaching for many – will be difficult for many as the box season is in full season too but do try to take care of bodies and injuries so all can be at their best as the big days approach.

Hope all have recovered from what sounds like a long and physical weekend for Saanich, JDF and Int Rocks.

Track stars are on for the Islands this Wed and Thur for their relays – they have been given their times to run.

Taking a break from teaching by our gr 12’s who have done a great job so far and will get back to that the following week.

At school Tues and Wed and at turf Thursday for lacrosse – hope weather is finally turning for us.

Friday at the school is Spartan Day and want all the guys to wear red and be a positive part of a school spirit day.

Coach Reisig

Hi all,

Little later than usual but wanted to get some info before sending.

Marks are in for term 3 and for our sr guys they have begun their last term of high school and are a little over 8 weeks away from entering the real world. Looking forward to graduation but in meantime need help encouraging them (all of them) to finish strong.

Lots going on over next while. Indoor in full swing now – hope all have successful seasons for whatever team they are on. The remaining schedule has been posted at school and next 2 weeks posted on the website so all should know what’s up but…please remind to check.

This week our sr ‘teachers’ start their mentorship and will be helping me (and Chris) lead Gr 3, 4, and 5 classes at Kelset, Keating, Cordova Bay, and hopefully the tribal school. Today was Kelset and a great start!! Tomorrow off to Keating.

Tues and Thursdays will be lacrosse for next 4 weeks with the next few Thursdays at the turf. Please have guys check to make sure in right place.

We will be firming up our track stars as all grades will be entering 4 × 100 and 4 × 400 relay teams. I encourage all/any others to enter any individual events they want. They would have success!!!

Big night for the parents of the lacrosse program. Finally!! One for the adults. Sat, Apr 29 we have our beer n’ burger night at the Moon Under Water Pub. Two ways to help – buy tickets and attend (I have my two!!) and if possible please look to donate something to the silent auction to help raise funds (gift certificates, golf passes, restaurants, fishing on your boat, rental in your ski condo, and so much more). Hope to see as many there as possible.

And…lastly mostly our Gr 10 class with some help from the Gr 9’s will be marshalling the Victoria 10K this Sunday, Apr 30. Just like the marathon but much shorter time commitment. We will meet at approx 7:15 am downtown near Dallas Rd and have been given the finish line as our section (Dallas to Belleville) Very exciting!!

Have a great rest of the week. Another short one for the boys with Friday’s Pro D Day
